I made a huge batch of ultra-healthy muffins this morning. I mean huge. Like five dozen muffins.

My review of A Cake Appeared, the new collection from Shane Jones, is up over at the PANK blog.

We had the day off from school today, so a good portion of my day was spent working on the next edition of Shadows from the Bell Tower, the literary magazine at the Academy where I teach.
Working on our magazine always gives me a renewed appreciation for editors the world over.

We have the most ridiculous dryer in the world.
We used to have a very reliable middle-of-the-road dryer. You know, one that costs a few hundred bucks and does what it's supposed to do: dry your clothes.
But then my brother moved, and there was a big swapping of dryers, and we ended up with this quite expensive thing that used to be my mom's.
And here's what it does. If you put anything large--say, a towel or a blanket or a sheet--in it, it will take all of the other clothes, put them in the middle of the towel or whatever, wrap them up, and tie itself into a gigantic knot. You think I'm kidding, but if you ever wondered how hobos got all their belongings wrapped up in one piece of fabric so they could carry it on the end of a stick, I'm pretty sure it was our dryer that made that possible.
