Last night and this morning, I read and reviewed Shane Jones's new book, A Cake Appeared. More details on the review in the near future, but if you haven't ordered a copy yet, you probably should go ahead and do that now.

Actually, to be honest, I took that a half an hour ago while I was outside reading student essays. But it still looks much the same.

I'm often amazed at the stupidity of people.
At this point, I supposed I've lived long enough that I shouldn't be so surprised, but still, I am.

I had the day off yesterday, so we spent much of the day shopping for a prom dress for Hillary. Several stops that were (shall we say) interesting, but at the end of the day, success.
I'd post a picture or something, but I'm sworn to secrecy.

While we were out, we stopped by Barnes & Noble in the hopes that I could pick up a copy of Brad Watson's new collection of stories, Aliens in the Prime of their Lives.
Here's what's puzzling: the folks at Barnes & Noble don't have the book and say that it won't be released until the 22nd. But both Amazon and Norton appear to be selling (and shipping) the book already. Hmm.

It's time to order coffee again.

I'm not convinced that Google Buzz is of any use.
But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe you're reading this, right now, in Buzz. If that's the case, will you let me know?

There's an interesting (although not surprising) graphic over at The Consumerist about government subsidies and why a salad costs more than a Big Mac.
I, for one, wouldn't eat a Big Mac if it were free, but I think the graphic points to something important and too often ignored: the American government (read, "the American taxpayer") pays to make this sort of food cheap, at great profit to a select group of corporations.
That, I think, is evil.
