Well, I'm starting to feel like a runner again.
I took Wednesday off, but I've run five of the last seven days. And it's getting easier, although it's still hard.
For starters, it's hot. The temperature--even in the evenings--has been in the high 80's, and with the humidity as high as it's been, the heat index must have been near triple digits. Staying hydrated is tough, but I've become very thankful for the water fountains along the Clermont/Minneola Trail.
And then there are all the problems that come with being out of shape. My cardiovascular system isn't what it used to be. My legs get tired. My running posture could use some work. I'm tired. I just keep telling myself to remember what Matt Seitz used to say, that it's much easier to regain a level of fitness than it is to develop it.
But even though it's hard, it's also good. I made it about four-and-a-quarter miles yesterday, and I probably could have run a little bit more.
One of these days, I want to run the loop around the lake, which is about 7.5, and then I want to do the out-and-back for the length of the C/M Trail, which is somewhere between 10 and 10.5.
