In which I arrive in Kentucky

1.
I am in Louisville. It's hot here.

It feels hotter than it felt in Florida, which is a little surprising.

2.
Today, I ran eight miles along the Ohio River.

I ran alongside a barge.

As I passed it, the men on the front guiding it along the river called out to me and waved.

3.
Today is a pretty important day for me. You know why.

Or maybe you don't.

But I sure do.

4.
I just told a friend of mine who is joining me in Louisville tomorrow, "Travel safely."

He replied, "It's not really up to me."

5.
Of course, I like the new album from The Mountain Goats.

But when I listened to All Survivors Pack the other day and heard the demos of songs from All Eternals Deck, I thought, "Oh, there you are."

6.
I read nearly all of Brave New World on the plane today.

7.
Tomorrow, I'm going to start reading essays. Lots of them.
