Notes on Tuesday

Did I tell you that my review of Matt Bell's How They Were Found is up over at PANK? It's kind of old news by now, I know, but I don't think I told you.

My favorite comment so far on it is this one:

I read this today:

Standing there I wondered how much of what we had felt on the bridge was just hunger. I asked my wife and she said, "I don't know, Tatie. There are so many sorts of hunger. In the spring there are more. But that's gone now. Memory is hunger."

Hemingway's pretty freaking amazing sometimes.

I went running yesterday afternoon. I took all of July off from running--not deliberately; I was just being lazy. It's pretty tough to get acclimated to the heat when the temperature is pushing double digits and you're out of shape. I'm going to run again today.

I got a new desk at school. It's not as nice as the one that Melissa bought for me a few years back, but it's pretty nice. And it's got nice big drawers.

Chris Lutz is writing with us over at Willows Wept Review. Today, he wrote something titled I guess we’re just more fond of the British than the Maltese.
