Forty-three degrees and clear

Forty-three degrees and clear for this morning's run. Last week's incessant cloudiness seemed to call all the more attention to the clarity of the pre-dawn sky, filled with more stars than we'd seen in weeks. We saw the sky turning red and orange over Lake Apopka as we neared the end of the run, and by the time the sun was good and up, it started to look like this:

I woke up this morning with the glands in my throat tight, a sure sign that something's blowing around outside that sets off the histamines in my body, but in spite of that feeling, it was hard not to feel entirely full of hope and energy.

Over the weekend, I signed up to run a 5k in April. It's not the race I would have preferred to run, but that race, hosted by Tri & Run in Winter Garden, is the morning after the state track meet. The state meet is being held in Jacksonville this year, and I didn't want to drive home late Friday night and have to be up early to run hard, so I've found an alternative the weekend before out in Oviedo.

Fifty-seven and change for the week last week, and today will kick off another solid week of mileage--five this morning, and scheduled for nine and a half this afternoon. And the weather this afternoon, pollen notwithstanding, promises to be beautiful.
