In which the little guys look out for each other

Yesterday morning, while I was out for a run, I watched as a hawk dove and snatched a bird that was sitting on a power line. The hawk carried it down into the grass beside the road, both the hawk and its prey screaming while the hawk held the smaller bird down.

Then, from a nearby tree, two mockingbirds flew out and attacked the hawk, circling and crying out.

Finally, the hawk, harassed by the mockingbirds, lost its grip on the bird it had captured. I'd assumed it was a mockingbird, since two mockingbirds were defending it, but as it broke free, I discovered it was a blue jay, and it and the two mockingbirds ran the hawk off.

Anybody using Google Plus? (or is it Google+?)

So far, it's like going to a party at a really good venue, except there's almost nobody there.

AP scores are out, and I'm proud of how all of my students did.

I'm also super proud of Hillary, who did well on both of her AP exams this year.
