Willows Wept Review

One of my friends tells me that Billy Collins told her that nobody writes the villanelle anymore. According to him, the only reason that the form exists these days is that teachers (like me, I suppose) keep teaching it.

I won't launch into a discussion here about the way that the repetition of the villanelle lends itself well to topics involving loss or longing. Instead, I'll just say that one of my villanelles--about a pair of owls searching for each other--appears in the delightful online journal Willows Wept Review, released today. You can read it here.

I love the villanelle. It all began, for me, with Dylan Thomas, when I was a wee little undergrad. Thanks again for submitting "Owls"; it's a lovely addition to the WWR family.
