As Long As We're Talking About It...

Well, as fate would have it, there was another copy of the South Lake Press in my mailbox when I got home today.

Take a look at this gem from the front page:
The election was handled by the city and after an official count by City Clerk Jan McDaniel, six city staff members, Mayor Dave Yeager, Councilman Pat Kelley, Councilman Ed Earl and an election official.
What on God's green earth, you're probably wondering, does that mean?

And to tell you the truth, I don't know, either.

I'm trying to read the sentence as including two adverbial prepositional phrases: "by the city" and "after an official count by . . . and an election official."

But that, as we might say here in the South, doesn't make a lick of sense.
