Spring Break: Hits and Misses

Well, our spring break was last week, so I thought I'd make a quick inventory of things...

Hits
  • Thai food on our anniversary. (Let's hear it for the Siam tofu!)
  • Disney, even though it was much colder than we were prepared for.
  • Lunch at Five Guys.
  • Re-reading much of The Iliad.
  • Hearing Mike Doughty's new bonus EP, Busking.
  • Building shelves for the kitchen and for my computer monitors.
  • Running every day, even when it rained. Admittedly, it wasn't raining hard, but it was raining.
  • Completing a writing assignment...and it was a paying gig, too.
  • Party at Jen's.
  • Roxy's first birthday! What kitty's birthday would be complete without a trip to PetSmart for birthday toys? Oh, and to Tijuana Flats, too...
Misses
  • A complete miss: I didn't get to paint the porch swing that I built Melissa for Christmas.
  • A near miss: I have another paragraph or so to write of the long-overdue review of Nikolas Rose's latest book.
I'm sure there's more, too. It's just hard to remember everything. Why is that? Especially when there are so many things that I never want to lose touch with.

One of my students told me that the week felt like a gap in her life. I certainly wouldn't say that about my week, but it is hard to remember things when you haven't written them down. And yes, I know that you and you will tell me that that's why I should blog more frequently.

Man, you had a great break. Aside from the party, I feel about my break sort of the same way I feel when I fail lunch. Not completely. But almost.

And I certainly don't know what you're talking about! You're right, though. :)

Five Guys?? What did you find to eat there?

The Management recommends the gristle-free Veggie Burger.

The thing to get is the grilled cheese, complete with tomato, grilled mushrooms, and grilled onions.

And the cajun fries. Yum.
