Here's what we've spent the better part of the day cooking and eating:
- Sweet potatoes
- Green bean casserole
- Mashed potatoes with gravy
- Broccoli pie (this was new for us this year, but very tasty)
- Asparagus (sans lemon)
- Potato stuffing (the old family recipe that I keep working on each holiday)
- Cranberry-orange relish
- Cornbread with honey butter
- Hillary didn't know that the orange we bought a couple of days was meant for the cranberry-orange relish, so she ate it. Fortunately, we had some locally-produced orange juice, which substituted nicely.
- In the spirit of experimentation, I left one of the ingredients on the bottom of the casserole dish when making potato stuffing. Against Melissa's advice. And she was right.
- The asparagus was supposed to get a squeeze of fresh lemon, but somehow, lemon didn't make it onto the shopping list. Instead, I hit them with some butter, pepper, herbs de provence, and a tiny bit of salt, which turned out pretty good.
- Pumpkin roll
- And a nice cup of coffee (or two)
