Right now, I should be grading papers.
But I just realized that it's been two months since I've said anything here, so I thought that I might say a few words before burying myself in the papers again.
It's been a long week: I've been tired, not getting much sleep, and feeling like there's a lot more work to be done than I can get done. I'm starting to feel the pressure of my upcoming conference in November, too. I'm midway through Regulating Aversion, the book that will be central to my paper, but there's another book--Rose's The Politics of Life Itself--that I need to read (and review) before I can start serious writing. And I feel like I need to review Agamben's Homo Sacer, too.
Which is to say nothing of the Supreme Court-related discussions about Guantanamo, or the New York Times article yesterday about torture.
Fortunately, there's the long weekend ahead. Once I get done with the cross country meet at Disney tonight, I'm looking forward to spending some time with Melissa & Hill, getting some rest, and getting some reading done.
Ok. Back to the grading.
