Lights on in the Kitchen

Late yesterday, we decided to start cutting in the green (artichoke, to be precise) paint in the laundry room. I had cut in the ceiling paint earlier in the day, and it just seemed right to get the green started even though it was approaching 6.

Well, one thing led to another, and Melissa painted the ceiling while I started the green; when she finished the ceiling, she helped on the walls; and by the time we called it quits at 8:30, we were about 30 minutes from having the room finished.

This morning, the priority was the kitchen, with the goal of getting a lot of the especially rough stuff done before I hit the road for the AP Reading in Daytona. I had patched most of the bad spots on the walls yesterday, so this morning involved much sanding and dust.

But finally, we got started on paint--not the walls, mind you, which will have to be a project for Melissa while I'm in Daytona--but the ceiling. I hit the bad spots with Kilz, and then Melissa painted while I finished the trim in the laundry room (which is, I might mention, sans washer and dryer...a problem that must be remedied soon).

And then came the light, which is absolutely perfect for the room: right size, right amount of light, right shape.

I just can't wait to see the room once the paint--a lighter shade of the green in the laundry--goes on. Maybe Melissa will send me pictures...
